These microorganisms are characterized by the complex cell organization, large genomes, and poorly studied functional potential (Boedeker et al., 2024; Wiegand et al., 2024). WebFinally, cryo-electron tomography demonstrates that Planctomycetes possess a typical PG cell wall and that their cellular architecture is thus more similar to that of other Gram-negative bacteria.
