I've tried several different pickups. Currently have an Electric City RD 59 in the bridge, and a Gibson '57 in the neck. With notes fretted it still sounds dead.

Now It sounds honky, Tinny, out of phase-ish, nasal tone, etc, and it was wired 100% correctly. This is by itself, and not in combination with the other pick up.

WebThe ‘tinny’ sound comes from you not fretting all the way, and wasn’t a big problem in this clip. If you have a problem with the sound of the high E in general maybe you should replace your strings with a different brand.
