The carbon fiber doesn't seem to hold to pins and tangs well with 2 ton epoxy. Maybe something else would be better, just saying from my experience.... CF is definitely lighter than G10, but small amounts will be of little notice. jmho.
WebJan 29, 2009 · Carbon fiber is probably most similar to G10, in that the materials are always epoxy and carbon fiber blanket, although weaves can change. It's much stronger than either G10 or micarta and it's very light. It won't take texturing the same way that micarta and G10 will, but it will take a very nice smooth finish. Micarta was a brand. It was basically a resin and a cloth or paper. One of the guys who invented Micarta also invented bakelite.

G10 can be cut sharp so that it provides traction, but doesn't do anything for the moisture part.
