WebFire Service Women of Vision and Leadership This resource by Dennis Compton features exceptional women in the fire and emergency services field. This booklet was created to commemorate, encourage and celebrate the vital roles of these women in both the fire service and American history. WebToday, nearly 1,400 uniformed men and women operate from 38 fire and rescue stations strategically positioned throughout Fairfax County. Additionally, about 180 civilians provide key support functions from headquarters and other locations. The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department operates on three separate 24-hour rotation shifts.
