If you can feel any slight play at all then your bushing is shot. Usually this doesn't make any noise though. WebJan 24, 2015 · 1,821 Posts. #7 · Jan 21, 2015. Rear shock making noise at the top of the stroke means you have air in the damper. I've seen a bunch of these brand-new on bikes with this problem. The CTD/rebound will work after you get past the air and into the oil but it's not ideal. In both cases it was the rear shocks. the first one started this noise a 3000 miles and the second around 5000. It is definitely a manufacture design problem.
