WebFORHP has funded the development of the Rural Urban Commuting Area Codes (RUCAs) with the Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service (ERS) to designate "Rural" census tracts within MAs. Census tracts with RUCA codes 4 through 10 are considered rural for the purposes of Rural Health grants. While use of the RUCA codes has allowed WebFORHP advises the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on health care issues that affect rural communities. This includes: Access to quality health care and health professionals Viability of rural hospitals Effect of HHS-proposed rules and regulations What programs do we manage?
